History
The 1965 school year saw Nelson Hall opening for the first time along-side the newly built Stewart and Evans Halls and the renovated East Hall residence. Of these four, Nelson was the only dormitory for men and it filled up immediately, such was the demand at this time of great expansion of the University. The 244 bed Nelson Hall was located on the corner of Algoma and Elmwood. Along with Breese and Clemans Halls, Nelson Hall was part of the "NBC Dorms" that shared a central green space, parking lot and joint programming for residents. For decades, Nelson Hall sponsored a "Haunted Dorm" Halloween event in the building. It was demolished in 2010 for the building of Horizon Village.
